“...most skilled and powerful dancers you can ever hope to see.” — Washington Post

The Martha Graham Dance Company has been a leader in contemporary dance since 1926. With programs that offer a rich thematic narrative, the Company embraces a vision that showcases masterpieces by Graham as well as newly commissioned works by contemporary artists.

The EVE Project commemorates the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment, which granted women the power to vote. The project brings together classic works of Martha Graham, such as Secular Games (1962), a comedic look at the universal antics of humans trying to impress each other; Ekstasis (1933 and 2017), a reimagining of a sculptural Graham solo; and Chronicle (1936), Graham’s stirring response to the rise of fascism in 1936 and to the unmatched power of the collective will. Other works on the program are by renowned female choreographers Pam Tanowitz, with her new work Untitled (Souvenir), and Maxine Doyle and Bobbi Jene Smith, with their new work, Deo.
