Curricular Resources

Experiences with the performing arts can enliven learning and inquiry across disciplines, build diverse perspectives, and foster social engagement. We welcome opportunities to collaborate with academic partners and create connections to enrich the course experience for students and faculty.

Classroom Tickets

We offer faculty and staff complimentary tickets to bring their classes and student groups to Modlin Arts Presents performances as part of their course and programmatic work.

To reserve your classroom tickets, email modlinarts@richmond.edu. Modlin box office staff will reach out to you to discuss your request and provide further information. Many of the Modlin Arts Presents performances are reserved seating, so the earlier you submit your request the higher likelihood your students will be seated together.

For more information or questions, please contact Cal Salant Meadows, Interim Box Office Manager, cal.salant@richmond.edu, 804-287-6023.

Making a Course Connection

Through Modlin Arts Presents we invite visiting artists to engage with the campus inside and outside the classroom to support interdisciplinary learning, foster creativity, and develop rich educational experiences. Explore the numerous ways you can incorporate the performing arts into your courses and programs:

  • Enhance course instruction based on the performance themes that overlap with your course
  • Use the performance to create opportunities for cross-disciplinary dialogue
  • Organize in-class workshops, master classes, and discussions with visiting artists about the creative process, historical influence, or cultural context
  • Promote community building in the classroom by attending a performance together
  • Participate in pre- and post-performance moderated discussions with visiting artists
  • Modlin can provide readings, videos, and other resources to contextualize an artist classroom visit or performance

Whatever new assignment or experience you’re considering for your courses, we are happy to help forge curricular connections to help achieve your learning goals. Please reach out to Shannon Hooker at shooker@richmond.edu or 804-287-6599 with questions or ideas about teaching with the performing arts or developing a visiting artist residency together.
