UNIVERSES Theatre Ensemble, "Party People Salon"

February 22, 2018, 7:30 PM
Camp Concert Hall, Booker Hall of Music

The award-winning ensemble UNIVERSES is known for breaking the bounds of traditional theater, fusing poetry, jazz, hip-hop, and Southern blues to create powerful performance experiences for diverse audiences. Party People Salon features performances of excerpts, interspersed with conversations among veteran Black Panthers and Young Lords of the 1960s and 70s  who share their moving, personal stories. Party People Salon offers a rare opportunity to discover what has become of these inspiring, and at times controversial, citizens whose movement to make change still reverberates today and connects multiple generations.

Join the Department of Theatre and Dance for a post-show discussion with members of the Young Lords and the Black Panthers.

Party People Salon is a Tucker-Boatwright Festival event curated by the Department of Theatre and Dance in collaboration with American Studies and Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies. Facility and technical support generously provided by the Modlin Center for the Arts.
