Organized in 2013, the Colour of Music Festival, Inc. is the nation’s largest black classical music organization presenting a diverse repertoire of baroque, classical, and twentieth century music at the highest of musical standards. Its goal is to give the public an opportunity to experience the talent of prodigiously gifted classical principals, composers, and performers of African descent, and the opportunity to share in their musical talents, knowledge, and inspiration. Colour of Music offers a musical kaleidoscope highlighting the impact and historical significance of black classical composers and performers on American and world culture.

This evening’s performance features the Colour of Music Festival Virtuosi, an all-female chamber orchestra featuring guest soloists, honoring the 91st birthday of legendary soprano Leontyne Price.

Arrive early for a pre-performance discussion with the performers led by University President and cellist Ronald A. Crutcher at 6:30 PM.
