The Office of the Chaplaincy and the Department of Music will hold the 49th annual Candlelight Festival of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, Dec. 4, in the Chapel. Two identical services will be offered, one at 5 p.m. and again at 8 p.m.
Conductor Jeffrey Riehl leads the singers of Schola Cantorum and Women’s Chorale in a joyous candlelight Christmas Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. The groups will present carols and anthems in the tradition that was first held at King's College Chapel in Cambridge, England, on Christmas Eve, 1918. University Chaplain Craig Kocher will preside over the services, which conclude with the lighting of candles by the congregation and the singing of "Silent Night." Prelude music will begin twenty minutes before each service.
