Award-winning Cherokee writer and performer DeLanna Studi walks back in time by her father’s side as they follow a 900 mile portion of the Trail of Tears to learn what her ancestors endured in the past and to find her place in the present. Says Studi, “It’s...a play about historical trauma, intergenerational trauma, and of course what it means to be a Cherokee woman today...We need to acknowledge what we’ve done because that’s the only way we can start creating a better future.” Studi reckons with this legacy – while also celebrating resilience, pride, heritage, and humor – in a bold solo show steeped in a dark chapter of American history.
