Daniel Hope joined the Zurich Chamber Orchestra as Musical Director in 2016, although his connection to the orchestra dates back to his childhood, when his mother served as manager for the legendary violinist Yehudi Menuhin, at whose Gstaad Festival the Zurich Chamber Orchestra regularly performed.
As Music Director, Hope brings the Orchestra together with esteemed conductors and soloists to perform programs that span musical eras and styles. His inspired perspectives offer new depth and insight into his carefully crafted programs, which make the most of the Orchestra’s unique sound.
This evening’s performance titled, A Tribute to Yehudi Menuhin, includes Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins in D Minor, Pärt’s Darf ich, Glass’ Echorus, Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in D Minor, Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Violins in A Minor, El Khoury’s Unfinished Journey, and Bartok’s Romanian Folk Dances.
