by Lisa Kron | Directed by Walter Schoen
“Well is wickedly witty, inventive…a pathos-rich tale.” —Time Out New York
“[A] perceptive, achingly funny play.” —Variety
“A drama of depth, infectious humor and great humanity.” —San Francisco Chronicle
Lisa Kron is a character in her own play. So is her mother. As Lisa, the character, works to create a theatrical memoir telling the story of her recovery from so-called allergies and the racial integration of her childhood neighborhood, her mother insists on questioning the accuracy of Lisa’s memories. The theatrical evening disintegrates into a hilarious play about issues of health, wellness, and community. This quirky and unique piece is a wonderfully insightful look into the loving and challenging complexities of the mother-daughter relationship.
