Escher Quartet with Jason Vieaux, guitar

September 10, 2017, 7:30 PM
Camp Concert Hall, Booker Hall of Music

Inspired by Dutch graphic artist M.C. Escher’s method of interplay between individual components working together to form a whole, the Escher Quartet is acclaimed for its profound musical insight and rare tonal beauty. The ensemble serves as Season Artists of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and String Quartet-in-Residence at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

According to Gramophone, Grammy®-winner Jason Vieaux is “among the elite of today’s classical guitarists.” NPR describes Vieaux as “perhaps the most precise and soulful classical guitarist of his generation.” In his return to Richmond, Vieaux will join the Escher Quartet in a performance that will include Mozart’s Quartet in B-flat Major, K. 458 (“The Hunt”); Thomas Adès’ Arcadiana for String Quartet; three movements from Bach’s Lute Suite No. 1, BWV 996; Boccherini’s Guitar Quintet in D Major, G.448 (“Fandango”); and more.
