“Jake is taking the instrument to a place that I can’t see anybody else catching up with him.” – Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder

Hawaiian-born ukulele phenomenon Jake Shimabukuro (shee-ma-boo-koo-row), broke onto the world scene via a viral YouTube video in 2006. Since then, his technical virtuosity and broad musical palette – including jazz, rock, original Hawaiian standards, and innovative pop covers – have fundamentally redefined how the seemingly limited instrument is perceived by millions of people. Acclaimed by The New York Times for his “buoyant musicianship,” Shimabukuro has been featured on CNN and NPR, in TIME and Rolling Stone magazines, and has performed alongside musical giants such as Béla Fleck, Cyndi Lauper, and Yo-Yo Ma.
