Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn

At Lewis Ginter Botancial Gardens
(Doors at 5:30pm)
Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 6:30 p.m.

Join two of the world’s most highly regarded banjo players, Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn, in a rare duo performance in the pristine setting of Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. Throughout the years, Fleck and Washburn have found joy in making music together – whether for their own pleasure, during a year of touring with the Sparrow Quartet, or in an impromptu live performance.

A powerfully creative force in bluegrass, jazz, pop, rock, world beat, and classical music, Béla Fleck has been nominated in more categories than any other musician in Grammy history. In the course of his staggering career, Fleck attained rock star status as the leader of Béla Fleck and the Flecktones and since then has collaborated with a dazzling array of artists across the musical spectrum.

Abigail Washburn, a singing, songwriting, Illinois-born, Nashville-based clawhammer banjo player pairs venerable folk elements with far-flung sounds, and the results feel both strangely familiar and unlike anything anybody’s ever heard before.
