by Laura Numeroff & Felicia Bond

Adapted for the stage by Nancy Schaeffer
Music and Lyrics by B. Wolf

Presented by the Modlin Center for the Arts and the Greater Richmond Alumni Chapter of the University of Richmond

“Fresh insight…and warmly scripted characters…make this a journey worth taking. The children followed in rapt attention.” —The Dallas Morning News

Saturday, March 8, 2008
11:00 am, 1:00 pm & 4:00 pm

Alice Jepson Theatre

In the tradition of Laura Numeroff's extremely popular books If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and If You Give a Moose a Muffin, celebration reigns supreme in this new musical of the beloved pig who likes to party. This story of circular logic brings the Mouse, the Moose and the Pig together at last in a carnival of music, festivity and friendship. Lively musical accompaniment and outrageous physical comedy provide audiences with a compelling theatrical experience. Come see what happens when you mix puppets, bicycles, bumper cars, pillow fights, ballet and ice cream!
Recommended for ages 3-8

All tickets $10. Everyone, no matter the age, must have a ticket.
Tickets on sale February 11, 2008.

It was great!

I took my 3 1/2 year old daughter to see her favorite book in person and she loved it. The performance was wonderful and just the right amount of time. I hope we will have performances like this again soon.

Laugh out loud fun!

I had two 4 1/2 year olds w/ me & they both thoroughly enjoyed the performance - I would love to see this theater company return for more performances! Thanks for a really fun outing!

Great Fun!

My husband and I attended with our 2.5 year old and 15 month old as well as my sister, her husband, 3.5 and 2 year olds. We all agreed that it was terrific! The kids were mesmerized by the play. What a wonderful family outing. Thanks for making it available; we hope there will be more.

Even Better than the Book!

Pure entertainment for every age! We loved every minute. I hope we'll see more performances like this one at the Modlin Center in the near future!!!

We loved it!

We brought our 4 year old daughter and two of her friends and they were all mesmerized the whole time. It was a great way to introduce theater to them. The production was high energy and engaging, and we all loved it.

I wish UR would bring even more children's productions. It seems like the community really supports them. Theater IV is great, but not the best of locations. The Modlin Center is a really easy place for parents to bring their little ones.

Thanks again Kathy and staff for doing such a great job.

Delightful and Engaging!

My two Toddlers and I were delighted and tickled by the fabulous and creatively adapted "If you Give A Pig A Party". I would love to see more productions for kids like this one. Thank you for bringing this creative and energetic group to Richmond, VA!

It was a wonderful event with lots of lively scenes and music. I had to read the book 6 times in a row to my granddaughter when we got home.

Fantastic!

My husband and I took our 2 1/2 year old who loves the Pig, Mouse and Moose, too. She was mesmerized by the performance as well as the great scenes. We enjoyed going to this as a family and hope that there will be more performances geared toward children in the future. Thanks for providing a venue for fun, family time.

A Delightful Surprise

I took my very active 3 year old daughter and 6 1/2 year old daughter with a couple of friends and we all enjoyed the play very much. I was somewhat concerned about my older daughter outgrowing the theme, but she loved it. The venue is lovely, the prices were very reasonable and the play was just the right length and very professional.

Please bring more programs like this to the Modlin Center, the Richmond community needs it!

I took my 4 year old grandson - it was his first live theater performance and he was glued to his seat. The play was just the right length and enjoyable for all age groups. I hope you will have more of this type of entertainment.
Thanks.

Kudos to the Dallas Children's Theater group they put on a fantastic performance and the casting was right on. The set was imaginative the play lasted the perfect length of time. The show also contained enough laughs for the parents and grandparents in the audience. Many thanks to the Modlin Center for providing an affordable, entertaining and memorable event for our whole family. I took my 4.5 yr old and my Mom. It was also exciting to be able to meet the cast members after the show. We look forward to our next outing at the Modlin Center.

This was an excellent presentation and my 4 1/2-year old grandson was spellbound at his first theater play, although it was a little long. Please schedule a similar childrens' play for next season.

Perfect for preschoolers!

This is the second Dallas Children's Theater performance at UR that we have been to as a family, the first one in the fall of 2005 with Guess How Much I Love You. I jumped at the opportunity to attend again and enjoyed this production even more. My 5 and 3 year old boy and girl loved the humor, interaction and music of the show. I appreciated the time frame and how they didn't take questions from the audience this time. We would be season ticket holders if this was a regular program offered by the Modlin Center! Thank you for bringing them to Richmond again!

It was a first theater event for our granddaughter Sarah, almost 5, who was fully engaged for the entire performance. She laughed, clapped and completely enjoyed the play.
She also announced that her "Mommy and Daddy were going to take her back to the 'castle" to see the next show, If You Give A Mouse A Cookie." She may have to write that play herself!

My 5-year-old son and I loved the show! We are fans of the story (and the other animals' stories too) and thought it was well adapted for the stage. We would love to see other events like this at the Modlin Center in the future.

I wasn’t sure quite what to expect – I hadn’t dug very deeply to find out what company was performing today, when I purchased the tickets. I might have missed it, but I would have liked a little bit more of a synopsis when I purchased the tickets (i.e., the performance would include tons of music, info about the Dallas Children’s Theatre, etc.). Essentially, I trusted the Modlin Center that it would deliver a great product. The performance was great!! The three kids that were with me were laughing and enjoying it the whole time. It seemed to be the right length – any longer would have too long. And the audience participation element was captivating for the kids. Thanks for a great afternoon out!

I took my 5 year old niece to the performance. She really enjoyed it. She also discussed her favorite scenes of the performance with me on the ride home.

We purchased the book at the event. She was so excited to get the cast members to sign her book. We couldn't even pull out of the parking lot before she cracked open the book to read it to us.

Great job.

I want to let you know how much we enjoyed the performance. My four year old daughter laughed out loud several times and as soon as the show was over asked to see it again!

Last year we went to Dan Zanes at the Modlin Center and enjoyed that show just as much. Please keep putting on these shows for children; we love them and will keep coming.

This was a great performance! My granddaughter, Morgan, who is 5, sat thru the entire hour and fifteen minutes without moving a muscle. I think she was studying the actors and actresses and taking it all in. She loves dressing up and pretending and this production has truly encouraged her and given her new ideas. The show was appealing to every type of child and you could tell that just from sitting in the auditorium. It was a very quiet audience considering it was full of preschoolers and some younger. No one wanted to miss a moment of the action. Morgan’s favorite part was the bumper cars and how they played that out. Thanks for bringing this to the University. We look forward to more performances like this that are wholesome and entertaining for our youngsters.

Wow! I read Laura Joffe Numeroff's books to my children and now they are too old to to take to a children's play. Well, I did the next best thing and invited my 6 year old great niece. She had a blast! My 12 year old daughter joined us and enjoyed the play too! A Saturday afternoon, with music, happy children, a girl, a pig, a moose, a dog, a cat, a snake, and a cute little mouse..... PRICELESS!
