“For director Robbins, Hollywood actor and critic of the Bush administration, 1984 is a perfect vehicle to vent his frustration over the post-9/11 terrorism hysteria dominating global, and particularly U.S., politics.” —The Australian News

Imagine a world where people fear that their opinion cannot be expressed freely, where leaders are not held accountable for their deceptions, where perpetual war is waged against an unseen enemy—a world where ignorance is strength, freedom is slavery, and war is peace. This is the world George Orwell created more than a half-century ago, and its prescience of today’s world is stunning. Founding Artistic Director Tim Robbins directs this powerful new stage adaptation by San Francisco Mime Troupe’s Michael Gene Sullivan. The Actors’ Gang is one of Los Angeles’ most enduring theater ensembles with a mission to create bold, original works for the stage and daring reinterpretations of the classics. Its work is raw, immediate, socially minded and crafted with the highest artistic standards.
This production contains brief, partial nudity and strong language.

Tickets: $32 adults, $30 seniors 65+, $16 children 12 and under, $24 UR employees, UR students FREE
