Originally formed in Shanghai 25 years ago, this versatile ensemble has performed on the world’s most prominent concert stages and regularly tours the great music centers of the world. The Shanghai Quartet has appeared frequently at New York's Carnegie Hall, and the quartet's travels have taken these talented musicians from London, Vienna and Prague, to Australia’s Sydney Opera House. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the quartet will premiere commissions from artists who hail from three continents: Chen Yi, Krzysztof Penderecki and jazz pianist Dick Hyman. In this all-quartet program, Richmonders will enjoy works by Gyorgy Ligeti, Mozart and Dvorák.

Tickets: $30 adults, $28 seniors 65+, $15 children 12 and under, $22 UR employees, $8 UR students
