Camp Concert Hall, Booker Hall of Music

The LA Guitar Quartet, one of today’s most multi-faceted instrumental groups, presents a unique adaptation of Miguel de Cervantes’ timeless classic in collaboration with voice actor and Firesign Theater member Phil Proctor who brings his mighty voice-acting talents to the role of the Ingenious Knight of La Mancha, Sancho Panza and a host of other characters. “The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote,” accompanied by new arrangements of music from medieval and Renaissance Spain, captures the humor, poetry and pathos of this most modern of 17th-century novels and showcases Cervantes’ rich language (taken from Edith’s Grossman’s lauded new translation). Projected images and vibrant music of the day, including works by Narvaez, Encina, Pisador, Milan and Martin y Coll, serve to enhance an evening of drama, comedy and sheer magic.
