"ENGROSSING... a thinking man's play [performed by] a true ensemble." - LAist
Alice Jepson Theatre
The season opens with a visit from Tim Robbins* and his remarkable theatre company, The Actor’s Gang, in a compelling new production that brings to life the 1968 trial of nine Catholic activists (led by two priests, Daniel and Philip Berrigan) whose act of civil disobedience galvanized America’s protest movement during the Vietnam War. While condemned as criminals in a court of law, these individuals were applauded as patriots in the streets during a divisive and turbulent decade in our nation’s history.
As one of Los Angeles’ most enduring theatre ensembles, the Actors’ Gang creates bold, original works for the stage as well as daring reinterpretations of the classics. Its work is raw, immediate, socially relevant and crafted according to the highest artistic standards.
*Subject to Mr. Robbins’ other professional commitments.
