“Cherryholmes looks ready to blast out of the bluegrass box.” —Boston Herald

Sunday, September 21, 2008

Camp Concert Hall, Booker Hall of Music

The family band Cherryholmes, recently nominated for a Grammy, boasts many qualities that justify its high-ranking status in the world of bluegrass. The secret to the band’s success, however, isn’t difficult to fathom. It can be found in an old-fashioned commitment to their craft combined with shining-star talent that blazes more brightly with each performance. The Cherryholmes sound consists of hard-driving instrumental virtuosity and dynamic vocal harmonies that lend themselves perfectly to their featured program of family originals and inspired classics. Two seasons ago, Cherryholmes dazzled Richmond fans and inspired instant aficionados with a bluegrass hoedown that included twin fiddles, Irish step dancing and classic country yodeling.

Tickets: $34 adults, $32 seniors, $17 children, $26 UR employees, $8 UR students

Tickets go on sale August 25, 2008.

A great show last night all the way around. They are remarkable performers, individually and collectively, and even more so in light of their relatively brief career. Wonderful voices, energetic instrumentalists, and terrific songwriters. Bring 'em back!

I enjoyed this group for the second time at Modlin, and especially so since the group seems to have stopped the strange shuffling of positions that they did last time. They have really grown up and it's great that they are together as a family and also giving the children a chance at a music career if they want it. Happy to see them again.

Cherryholmes was an excellent performance. Judging from the exiting crowd everyone enjoyed the evening.

The Cherryholmes concert was wonderful. The toe-tapping, hand-clapping melodies were ear pleasing! They played continuously for 1 1/2 hours and I didn't want it end. I would love to have them here again!

The concert was great last night we saw them a month ago in Myrtle Beach and they have gotten even better since then. This was my family first visit to the Modlin Center and we were very impressed with the acoustics and seating. A very enjoyable evening! Please bring them back.
