Set between reality and illusion, Paula Vogel's The Baltimore Waltz is a wonderfully entertaining
and emotionally rich play. This funny and meaningful work focuses on the nature
of living life to the fullest even while coping with the grief of losing
someone you love.
This hilarious but remarkable play--often called
Vogel's most autobiographical work and an OBIE award winner--is reflective of
the steps she took towards dealing with the loss of her own brother. Vogel's
central character, Anna, takes a grand tour across Europe
looking for a madcap doctor with the secret cure to for her Acquired Toilet
Disease. Along her journey, Anna encounters a variety of amusing iterations of
the mysterious and illusive Third Man character. Hailed by CurtainUp's William
Stevenson as "smart, funny and ultimately moving," The Baltimore Waltz remains an extremely relevant, satisfying and
hilarious play.
