Study The Arts at UR

Art and Art History

The University Museums and Department of Art and Art History provide students with both a broad and deep foundation in the arts that covers a vast spectrum of time periods and techniques, with visiting faculty and exhibitions from around the world.

Arts Management

The interdisciplinary concentration in arts management is approachable by studio art, art history, music, theatre, and dance majors or minors. The concentration, which has grown substantially since its creation, combines artistic sensibilities with business acumen.

Music

The Department of Music offers diverse opportunities for major and non-major students to explore and develop their musicianship with internationally renowned faculty in world-class facilities. The music department presents a season featuring a broad range of styles, from the classical performances of the University Orchestra to the Global Music Ensemble and Grammy-winning ensemble-in-residence eighth blackbird.

Theatre and Dance

The Department of Theatre and Dance offers students the kind of pre-professional training that makes them successful on the stage, in television, on the big screen, and in a range of careers that relate to the performing arts. In association with a number of student groups including the University Players and University Dancers, the Department of Theatre and Dance produces a four-show mainstage season, as well as a number of smaller student productions.
